Verizon acquisition of Intel’s OnCue confirmed

Intel announced that Verizon will purchase the OnCue IPTV platform for undisclosed amount. Verizon will receive all the assets of business including intellectual property. The company plans to extend offers of employment to virtually all of the 350 employees working on the project. The team will remain in Santa Clara.

Verizon was vague about its plans for the technology, saying only that it planned to use it to enhance the existing FiOS TV service. The company made no mention of whether it planned to launch a virtual pay-TV service, as was the original plan for the OnCue service.
